Cutter Cyclical Jacket with eVent - Women's - 2009
From the amazing hand-covering ninja cuffs to the wicked-breathable, waterproof eVent fabric, to feminine-figure-flattering style, the Cutter Women’s Cyclical Jacket with eVent wants to cover your ass when its brown- striping weather. The Cyclical’s extremely-breathable eVent fabric fends of external moisture without leaving you to funk-out in your own bodyheat, and the jacket’s pedal-specific cut and shape covers your dermis from race crouch to one-wheeled bunny-hopping bar spin. The extended zipper cuff contours over and covers the top of your hand—say buenos noches to un-sheltered, ice-cubed digits in the drizzle—while the waterproof zippers ensure dry cargo. Reflective logo hits offer peace of mind out on the road after the ground swallows up the sun, and the Cyclical’s lightweight stashability loves the bar scene.
Bottom Line: The only lightweight, awesome-fitting, pedal storm fortress you’ll ever need.
I absolutely love eVent fabric, so I might be biased :) The cut is meant for biking. when you just stand up it feel a little funny, but as soon as you get on the bike - it's super comfy. Sizing is a bit off - I'm 5'6", 140lb, and M was waaay too tight in all the parts, I exchanged it for L and it's a bit floppy, but this allows layering when needed. Sleeves are plenty long and I love the flap on the top of the hand to give even more wind/rain protection. Zipper isn't straight, which it nice - it doesn't end right into your chin, but a bit to the side. The jacket is perfect length for biking - shorter on front, but covers the butt. Overall - it's a steal when on sale for $40 :)
I had been eye-balling this jacket for a while but couldn't justify spending $300(!) on it....are you kidding me??
I'm an avid mtn biker so have good gear is important but I already had a rain jacket. BUT I'm also a big time weight weenie too and my other jacket is bulky and heavy - so I was super stoked when I saw this for 60% on bonktown.com. I snagged it. The xs fit perfectly (i'm 4'10" ~105lbs) and I LOVE the way the sleeves cover the backs of my hands.
I love this jacket so much and was *extremely* bummed and mad at myself when I lost it. I was racing at the Breck 100 and left my camelback with the Cutter jacket stuffed in the back at the race venue!!!! The race promoter said it was not turned into "lost and found".
ughh....but by then i was sold on the jacket- so I reluctantly ordered another one(it was on sale for 50% off at the time). so i ended up paying "full price" for one jacket.
On a whim I placed a 'lost and found' ad in the local paper offering a $25 reward and lo-and-behold some guy responded that he had found my camelback. I met up w/the guy - paid him the $ - got my jacket back and sent the "new" one I ordered back. Whew!
So all that's to say it's a great jacket, functional - lightweight(packs down very nicely) and stylish.
Has anyone ever seen a photo of this jacket on a woman anywhere? Would love to see how it looks on. Also, this sale is weird. What if I buy one, get a free gift Men's jacket and then only one of them works? I send them both back?
I'm 4'10" and weigh ~105lbs. The xs fits me perfectly. I've only ridden in moderately wet weather (not in an extreme downpour) and the jacket kept me dry and seemed to vent ok - as I didn't over heat.
I love the way the sleeves cover the backs of your hands while riding....my hands get cold quickly so having them protected was a nice touch. It looks really good on too...
I bought this off Bonktown recently and was really excited to get it. I live in Portland and commute by bike, and was in need of a lightweight waterproof jacket to get through the winter. I had been wearing my regular Mountain Hardware shell, but kept finding my back exposed and rear hanging out, and decided to go for a cycling jacket, though I do not consider myself a hardcore cyclist. That being said, this jacket really looked nice, but the fit was off. I ordered a medium, (I am 5'5" and 140 lbs and normally do fine in 8-10/Mediums in other brands), and it fit, but was it was tight, and I can't imagine being able to wear it over anything other than a very thin longsleeve shirt. The front of the jacket seemed to short, ending at my waist. Maybe this is normal for a cycling jacket, as they assume you will be hunched over, but as this was advertised as a jacket that could transition to casual wear easily (and that was something that attracted me to it in the first place), and I ride an upright "granny bike", this fit looked silly on me. The back seemed to be long enough, and the extended arm length to cover the backs of my hands was nice. The color was also very nice- it is more of a deep brown than I expected (on my computer it looked dark gray). The other quibble I had was the lack of pit zips. I know the eVent is supposed to not need that, but I usually overheat and need my pitzips open. If that were the only thing, I might give it a try, but with all the other issues and the high price tag, this one is going back.
Question: I'm about 5'5 and 3/4" around 120lbs. You said the front of the jacket was small on you, right to your waist. Do you know the exact measurement for the front? I'm debating between the small and the medium, and I'd rather get it right the first time than send it back. Any
The fit on this jacket is really impressive - it's definitely designed around your shape while riding, and the details like the sleeve covering the back of your hand are really well thought out. The front is high enough not to bunch, but is at the perfect height so it looks cute if I'm just wearing it casually after a ride. The chest pocket holds a blackberry or ipod perfectly and has interior routing for earphones, and the seam sealed zippers are awesome.I was initally worried about the lack of pit zips, but as it turns out I haven't felt like I needed them, so great work on a breatheable fabric. And it IS slim fitting - I wouldn't wear it over a ton of layers, but that's perfect for riding. I get compliments on this jacket all the time and I love it.I do wish it came in other colors - the brown is perfect for mountain biking (and casual wear), but for road riding, I'd love to have one in a bright color - or at least something with a lot more reflective detail so you stand out on the road.
i've gotten compliments on how awesome this jacket looks and it really is awesome. the fit is fine, i got an S and i'm about 5'3, 115lbs. it does need frequent washing and ironing (with steam) to reactivate the waterproofing - i usually wash mine once every two weeks if i used it alot in the rain.
i used it in the summer when it rained and the fabric is nice and breathable. didn't feel stuffy at all.
overall its a great buy, not sure if i would buy it at full price but definitely worth it when on sale. i just wish they had another colour other than brown for more visibility.
I too had been eye-balling this jacket on Bonktown for weeks... I was especially intrigued by the idea of having a cycling jacket to wear on and off the bike. I'm rather tall and a size 4 so cycling jackets are usually the only kind that are long enough in the arms. I was so excited when it finally arrived, I tried it on immediately only to realize how awkward this jacket fits and feels while wearing. The arms aren't quite long enough, it's too short in the front, and is uncomfortable. It would in no way work off the bike and I wasn't willing to even try it while on the bike. I'll stick to cycling jackets & brands I know from now on!
