Cutter District Rear Safety Light - 2009

Pedaling home from a late, bladder-heavy night is dangerous enough—Cutter’s District Read Safety Light tags along so you don’t have to brave the dark city streets all by your non-reflective lonesome. The District’s three LED bulbs project light 2000-feet, providing plenty of warning for the bogies on your six. The crew at Cutter included two AAA batteries because they know you’ve already pilfered all the useable AAA’s from your roommate’s, girlfriend’s, and random friends’ remotes. The ol’ swap and switch…, works every time.

Bottom Line: Press the button. Don’t get hit by cars.

Great rear safety light

By: Eric Miller Realcyclist.com Employee
November 10, 2009

Well worth the money for this light. The three rear facing LEDs are bright (brighter than other rear lights I've used). It also has two smaller LEDs that point out each side giving additional side visibility. The light has great battery life. It does use AAA batteries which is economical and easy to replace (no weird battery sizes).

Two minor drawbacks are: 1. Only steady mode, no optional flash. 2. The clothing/strap clip is attached to the light and is the same piece that connects to the seat post mount. If this breaks then the light won't attach to either. Just be careful.

Overall though, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I still give it 4 stars and would recommend it.

Does this light easily attach to a seat bag tail light loop?

Does this light easily attach to a seat bag tail light loop? Is there a clip or something?

Hey Snoots,

Yes - the District Rear Safety light easily attaches to a seat bag tail light loop. It separates from the seat post mount so you can easily mount it to a seat bag or courier bag/backpack.

Not bad, but the light doesn't flash

By: jonathan
September 28, 2009

I thought every rear light flashed. This one doesn't. It's still really bright and definitely increases visibility. However, one of my racing buddies says that the flashing is how most drivers know it's a bike in front of them. I was under the impression this light flashed when I bought it. I still like it and will keep it, but beware - this light does not flash.
