Giordana Competitive Cyclist Team FRC Jersey
Our racing team was treated to the top-shelf for all of their outfitting needs. This is no more apparent than with the selection of one of the most critical pieces of the team issue kit -- the jersey. We supplied our Competitive Cyclist Team with Giordana's FormaRed Carbon Jersey, because it provides a combination of intelligent, hardworking fabrics. Now, we're providing you with a rare chance to choose from a limited selection of these actual team-issued.
The FormaRed Carbon Team Jersey is loaded with features. The front, shoulders, sleeves, collar, and pockets are constructed with Giordana's Asteria fabric. This material features a blended composition of polyester and spandex microfibers that have exceptional wicking and breathability. It’s quite interesting to know how it does its job so well. Your sweat is about 99% water. Water molecules cling to each other by cohesion -- through which they form a chain-like structure. With the jersey fitting closely against your skin, the water is then attracted to the positive and negative charges present on the millions of fine hairs at the surface of the microfiber. This attraction draws the water through the fabric in a process commonly known as wicking, or capillary action. By using very fine fibers in the Asteria fabric, your jersey provides more pathways for this capillary action to take place. This results in more water being transferred to the surface, where it is evaporated by the passing wind.
Giordana then arranged these fibers in an unusually dense, compact weave, equaling 40 threads per centimeter. So, by employing a greater number of fibers per centimeter, Asteria provides nearly the highest possible breathability without a reduction in compressive support.
For the back and side panels, Host Carbon supplies similar wicking and breathability with additional benefits pertinent to these areas. Host Carbon was chosen, in part, for its second-skin fit that moves omni-directionally with your body as you engage different positions. Its properties also happen to create a barrier against electrical charges in the atmosphere, which are believed to contribute to cramping and fatigue. With Host Carbon, electrical charges are absorbed into the jersey rather than the body, effectively improving blood circulation and efficient distribution of oxygen. The incorporation of carbon into the material also provides a natural defense against odor causing bacteria -- a welcome feature in an area where the body focuses much of its efforts to reduce heat through perspiration. Finally, a micro mesh insert covers the underarms to further accelerate the expulsion of unwanted heat from the core.
This Team jersey is a member of Giordana’s race-category, for which its designers have painstakingly eliminated loose material or bunched fabric. In keeping with that definition, this jersey provides a minimalist, contoured, and multi-panel architecture to provide maximum security and comfort. The Aerofix Gripper System secures the fit at the arm cuffs and hemline with a dynamic two-layer fabric combo. On the outside, the carbon threaded Ametista material provides firm support, with a honeycomb weave that stretches in all directions, instead of the two or four directions standard in many other cuffs. At the inner-layer, Giordana's Antigua fabric creates small pockets of air within its semi-perforated knit to enhance breathability next to the skin. The grippers in the arm cuffs and in front of the waist provide a virtually seamless feel, while the gripper at the rear waist is injected with silicone for extra holding power. Holding everything together are four-needle flat-stitched seams that provide strength without any chance of chafing.
A full-length Camlock zipper provides venting options. Three ample rear pockets provide enough storage space for your ride nutrition and tools. And additionally, Giordana included a rear zippered pocket to house your cards, cash, or race radio.
