Gore RideOn Low Friction Road Derailleur Cable Kit - 2008
If friction is a road biker's nemesis, then the GORE RideOn Low Friction Road Derailleur Cable Kit has hero written all over it. While sticky cables don't actually slow your wheels down, the extra effort they require saps forearm strength, and they'll keep even the best derailleur from performing at its peak. Missed shifts and lost seconds are the result. At best, that will ruin your workout; at worst, it will push you right off the podium. GORE RideOn fuses each cable and lining in the Low Friction Road Derailleur Cable Kit with Teflon, creating a friction coefficient that's practically nonexistent. You'll shift faster and use less effort, and that means you'll have more to pour out on the final sprint. *Kit includes cables, housing, crimp caps and ferrules.
Bottom Line: Kick cable friction to the curb with GORE RideOn.
They are compatible with Campy as well as Sram and Shimano. One end is for Campy and the other is for Sram/Shimano. The OD of the housing is 4mm as well. Dave - GORE® Ride On® Cables
I installed these cables on DA7800 system. The cables and parts are all of high quality. However, after installation I've noticed no significant improvement in performance over stock DA shift cables. I have not noticed a significant decrease in shifting effort through the shift levers. I suspect that most high end road groups already work so well that better cables won't make much of a difference. Maybe these cables will improve mountain setups more because mountain shifters typically have smaller shift levers and thus less leverage. Given the large price premium, I would probably just stick to standard cables for road setup.
These cables are very solid, in fact the derailleur cables are actually too stiff to fit in the SRAM Force shifters. I was able to get one side, but not the other. I didn't have any trouble though with the brake cables. The housing is also very well made - very smooth and well sealed. Even though I wasn't able to use the cable for the front derailleur the housing improved the shifting using ordinary cables.
Only the sealed system comes with black housing. This version has gray housing. We introduced white housing to the market at the Interbike trade show 2 weeks ago and Backcountry should have it in stock in a week or soDave - GORE™ RideOn® Cables
Their products seem to be very good, if pricey. Gore seems to lack a functioning domestic system of customer support. It took me five+ weeks to get an issue straightened out with Gore. Once I got to someone with authority and inclination to help they were very fair and helpful.
