Easton EC90 Carbon Road Crank

If weight is your nemesis and stiffness is your ally, it is time to wield the Easton EC90 Road Crankset and conquer the competition. This full-carbon-fiber crankset is impregnated throughout with carbon nanotubes, which act like tiny bridges within the bonding resin and allow Easton to make the arms stiffer and stronger than any carbon crank currently available without adding extra weight. Even with a beefy 24mm Cro-Mo spindle, the EC90 weighs in at around 660 grams—and that’s including an estimated 100g bottom bracket. Brutal fatigue testing insures the EC90 against even the most jackhammer-legged sprinter, and with a stiffness-to-weight ratio far beyond its nearest competitor, you can be confident that every Newton of effort is going from your pedals right into the chain. *Bottom bracket not included.

Bottom Line: On the road, it has no equal.

According to Easton you need to use the EC90 BB either Reg http://www.backcountry.com/store/EAS0069/Easton-EC90-Bottom-Bracket.html

Or Ceramic

There might be some funny exception as far as a campy bottom bracket matching non campy cranks but I severely doubt it in this case. Typically Campy goes with campy and nothing else. And I'm definitely not suggesting trying it.

Don't forget the BB

By: ClubRider Realcyclist.com Employee
November 29, 2008

I picked these up 'cause they are sick. Stiff as DA & lighter.

However, I forgot the BB. Don't forget the BB for this beauty.

What do the different sizes mean on the cranks? How would you determin what size to look for?

The sizes are the length in millimeters. Most people use 172.5's. If you've got longer legs, 34" inseam or more, and/or you are a seasoned rider and can handle the extra torque go with the 175's. Hope that helps. The sizing parameters are the length of the crank arm in mm. The most common road size is 172.5. To check what you have now, it should be stamped into your current crank arm on the "back side" of the crank arm. If you have not been professionally fitted for your road bike, I would recommend going with the size that you currently have. (bottom line, if you are looking at professional level components such as these, one should know the correct crank arm length.) Call the backcountry.com Gearheads if you still need more info :-).
