You can't have a masseuse rub your muscles while you ride, but the Giordana Men's Silverline Shorts are the next best thing. Moxie fabric, a Power Lycra certified material, provides a high rate of compression, giving your muscles a micro massage that helps prevent fatigue. Giordana designed these bike shorts with its MC3-OF chamois, giving you seamless cushioning that stretches and rebounds with each pedal stroke. Non-slip silicone leg grippers hold these shorts in place.
Bottom Line: Don't poop out before the finish line. Conserve your energy with the Giordana Silverline Shorts.
I like the fit and fabric of these shorts real well. I only do 20-30 milers right now, working back up to serious distance. But the crotch pad is a major improvement over my worn out Pearl Izumi's. I estimate I had about 20k miles on my Pearl's, so they were VERY tired. I would only mention that I am average build 6'0 190, and the shorts do ride about an inch lower in front than my old ones. When I sit up peddling, my belly now shows and I have to tug down my shirt. I know what u r thinking, but it ain't that. I measured these against my Pearl's and another off brand that I have and the crotch to waist band is 1-2 inches shorter than both.
I've had these shorts for almost a year and I love them and they are still holding up strong. Super comfortable, leg grippers stay right in place, and the pad is super comfortable.
The little horse Giordana logo on the back fell off after only one washing, and the fit seems to be geared towards guys with at least a little "junk in the trunk" but these are great shorts. If you've got a flat a$$, you might have a case of the sag butt in these, but that it probably the case for you with most bike shorts.
Definitely the most expensive pair of shorts I own, but when my current pair wears out, I'm definitely ordering another.
Like Pearl Izumi and most brands Giordana makes a pretty wide range of chamois. The chamois in these shorts is similar to the ultrasensor chamois that PI makes. The fit on the Giordana shorts is a bit more snug than PI clothing (PI is bigger than almost anything out there in terms of sizing). I think that in general Giordana's clothing is slightly less durable but better fitting than PI clothing. Since you're used to PI, go try on some other brands at your LBS before buying something new.
I am 6'3'' and 220+ and the XL fits really well. I just went on a 40 mile ride and the padding work very well. My only complaint is the elastic that holds the legs in place since this is not disclosed in the specs. They have silicone grippers one the inside of the elastic.
I got these shorts because they were on sale and I needed something to throw in the rotation for my louis garneau's. The sizing is the same as the LG's (except with Giordana you should size up..it's euro sizing) but the cut of the fabric is a lot different.
The Silverline's panels curve forward to accommodate your riding. If you're just standing off the bike or walking around they'll sag a bit (not too much) in the butt and such. Also the front is cut lower than the LG's.This concerned me but as soon as you get on the bike and get into position the panels straighten out and you're ready to go (and you're not buying shorts to walk around in are you?....don't lie...we know you wanna look cool ;)
The chamois is a little thinner than I'm used to but it is very smooth to the touch. The stitching is also superb (not to mention very attractive) inside and out. I don't know about durability yet but they definitely look like they'll hold up a long time.
In conclusion, these are one of the better middle of the line shorts and I would recommend them to anyone looking for another pair for their rotation. They won't do you wrong.
Had these shorts for a few weeks now, and I really like them. The material on the bottom stays put on your legs and the padding is very comfortable. You may still have to stand up to keep the blood going but overall solid shorts. The sliverline is also very attractive. These are my favorite pair of shorts
I purchased another pair of cycling shorts for less and thought they would serve the purpose, but these, while costlier, have proved their worth each and every time. Superior workmanship, fit, style, and padding all trump the cheaper imitation. Don't skimp on the shorts--they serve while you sit.
These are very well made shorts and are very sharp looking too. I feel they are spot on for shorter rides, but once you start logging over 2 hours in the saddle, the chamois is not as dense as I prefer it. I wish the chamois were little more supportive to last a bit longer for a big ride. No particular hotspots, just could benefit from a bit more support. I've seen other reviews on the web about the waistband stretching out very quickly, but so far so good. I've been riding these twice a week for a month.
First pair of shorts, they're great. Very comfy, had them for about a month and seem pretty durable, they show no signs of wear after a significant amount of miles. No complaints!
These shorts were very comfy. However, after a few washes, the upper part of the short started to stretch out a bit and the garmet did not stay in place as well. I was kind of disappoint in this.
Definitely designed for bike riding posture. The front is really low if you're not riding. Thick padding and very cofortable. The padding adds a bit of warmth during long rides, but otherwise just great overall.
Very comfortable shorts for long distance rides. If you're fat i suppose they'll stretch out on you, however if your a chiseled road biker like myself, you're gonna be all good. Ride on brave soldiers.
