Very comfortable bibs. Chamois was initially a little cardboardy. After 3-4 rides, stitching is a little frayed in the crotch and the logo is peeling up on one leg.

I'm very pleased with the quality and comfort of these bibs. Giordana put a couple of different types of fabric in the legs, which gives the shorts good compression. I found the chamois to be very comfortable. No complaints yet on durability, but I've only worn them a few times so far.

These are my favorite bib shorts of all time. Fit is perfect and true to size. Chamois is like sitting on a sofa and will last a long time and doesn't feel bulky at the same time (I tend to like the chamois that make you drop your saddle a few millimeters). Wore a fresh pair of these everyday at the BC Bike race and had no issues with saddle sores or discomfort.

Comfortable, good fit, NOT well made.
I had one 45-mile ride in the Tenax's. Immediately after the ride, each part of the fabric that contacted the saddle became "pilled" and worn looking (Saddle is a Fizik Aliante so it's not as if the saddle surface is rough!).
For $149.95, Giordana needs to use better materials than this. These bibs wouldn't last 3-4 months I have a feeling.
Realcyclist.com is fantastic though!! I'm a repeat customer and will stay one, assuming this return goes smoothly.

I wear a 32 waist pant and am 6' tall and I wear a large bib short from Giordana. It fits ok, but not tight by any means. Giordana claims a Large fits up to a 36 waist and I think that you boyfriend would get a more proper fit than I did out of my Large. So to sum up my convoluted answer I would go for a Large, hope that helps

These bibs look great and the fabric gives good compression, but the chamois leaves much to be desired for me. It is way to thin and within an hour it felt like there was no chamois at all. I know many cyclist prefer a thin chamois, but I am not one of them. If you're looking for a bib to spend hours in the saddle with... look elsewhere.

These ran MUCH smaller on me than the chart. I first ordered a medium and had to exchange it for a large which is still comfortably snug. I have a 31" waist and a large is rated for 36" I believe. So take that into account if you are ordering -- order up one size. They say they're supposed to be tight but trust me, according to their sizing chart, it was a crushing experience down there.
These looked great and felt good to me but after only perhaps 200 miles in the saddle and 3 or 4 washings I see little piling on the seams on the inside thigh, abrasion and small fabric pilings in the abdominal area above the crotch, presumably caused by the elastic of my jersey? This contrasts to other bibs that are half the price, almost as comfortable, and have been through close to 800 miles of riding in the rain and other abuses and have NO pilings.
Castelli Velocissimo is similar, felt more comfortable to me and has not had these types of piling issues. You know you may be in trouble when you get a card with your bib that says the warranty won't cover "pilings" caused by abrasion. I was thinking they meant a saddle that had side seams that rubbed hour after hour against the fabric on your inner thigh. I didn't realize they were trying to to excuse the fact that pilings would occur by the shear fact you wear them on a bike and ride around. Granted, that is aesthetic, but at the price, I expected much better.
