Giro Advantage 2 Cycling Helmet

I wore the Giro Advantage 2 at the 2009 Ironman Lake Placid and it performed very well. The fit is good and I didn't have any issues with overheating during the 112 mile bike ride. The helmet covers your ears and the rush of air over the ear flaps make it difficult to hear compared to conventional road helmets. With my Giro Atmos helmet I can often hear cars coming up behind me. With the Gira Advantage 2 helmet I often thought I heard a car coming from behind but looked back to see nothing. It takes a little getting used to. I really have no way of prooving I gained a time advantage with this helmet (or any aero helmet for that matter) but I would recommend this helmet...especially if you can get a good deal on it like I did at realcyclist.com.

When training has taken you as far as you can go this will help shed off those last few seconds you need to get on the podium. It vents surprisingly well on top of it all. If you're already fast and looking for a little advantage go for it.

This helmet gets the job done in TT events. I ordered a size up (L) after discovering the M was a bit too snug. I normally use a medium Giro Ionos but am definitely at the upper edge of the 55-59cm measurement.

Ventilation is more than adequate -- I've worn it for ~2 hours without feeling too warm.

Note that for ideal TT positioning, you'll probably end up pushing the helmet angle back a bit (i.e. with your forehead more exposed) so the tail sits flush with your back. Apparently the newer Giro helmets used in the '09 TdF fix this problem, but who knows when they'll be available (or how much they'll cost).

I'm really sold on this one, not just for time trial but everyday, It fits true to size and very comfortable, I ride with it everyday, Good vents as Coeur D'Alene ID summer is very hot and it vent really well... would recomend it to all riders, fit & fell is much better than stock style and I feel the protection level is really high...won't change styles again... this is it for me... LOVE IT!!!!

Not bad. Was a little nosier than I thought it would be. Also takes a little extra time putting it on in T1. You have to be calm and methodical, you just can't slap it on. Feel and look more like a bubblehead than with a standard helmet, but when you are getting older, you need all the help you can get to keep that time.
