Giro Filter Sunglasses with case

I bought the white version of these glasses with the grey and clear lenses for about $120 here on realcyclist a few months ago after reading some positive reviews. I was choosing between these and the Oakley Jawbones, and in hindsight, I wish I had bought the Oakleys.

Pros:
- The Filters don't look freakish when you're off the bike
- The Pop-Top lens exchange works like a charm
- The frame is narrow, which fits my face well

Cons:
- The Filters look more normal than a pair of Oakleys or Rudys, but they still don't look like normal shades
- The nosepiece can be uncomfortably tight, and I don't have a wide nose
- The earpieces are not supposed to get in the way of the secondary retention system (i.e., Roc-Loc, etc.), but they do, albeit not as badly as some other glasses I've worn
- The lens shape/size does not provide great coverage, but they'll still fog up pretty quickly if you stop riding. At the $199 suggested price, a hydrophobic coating would be nice
- The clear/night lens creates all sorts of glare and halos around light sources

Honestly, I liked these shades until the days got shorter and I started riding primarily at night. Now I can't stand them. At night, the clear lenses turn every street lamp or headlight into a big splotch of light. The lenses also create multiple images of every light source, so it's not just one headlight that messes with your vision, it's four or five. On a late night ride through the city it gets annoying as hell. For all of Giro's marketing-speak about the Zeiss lenses, I've had $20 pairs of clear glasses that didn't do this.

I really like the Filter. Good fit, fantastic lenses (Zeiss!), and the Pop Top lens change is easy to master. I like knowing that the lens is correctly set in the frame and won't rattle or come loose. And you can wear these off the bike too.

I have always loved Giro products, they have always performed well for me. I needed a pair of glasses I could bike, and run in without feeling like I was the Terminator. When I found out these glasses have 2 sets of Zeiss lenses (the best optical lenses in the world) I went for it. Well guess what? They not only come with a day and night lens tint, they are actually easy to interchange also. Buy them you will not be disappointed.
