Gore Bike Wear Countdown Glove

Wear the GORE Bike Wear Countdown Cycling Glove to avoid cold weather punishment. Synthetic leather grips like a pitbull, fleece lining adds warmth, and Gore-Tex fabric blocks all moisture from getting in. Gel padding in the palm protects against impact and all-day pressure, and reflective logos help you appear more visible to motorists.

Bottom Line: Prepare for Countdown.

Warm Glove - Thumbs Small

By: mike.hogan2295476
February 3, 2009

Didn't think I could find a single pair of gloves that would allow me to bike in temps below 32 degrees. Tried 3 pair of gloves...and was unhappy...until I discoverd the Countdowns. They are very warm...warmest I have used. I typically wear a medium glove...however, I needed to size up to a large with the Countdown. The inner waterproof Gore-Tex membrane causes the Thumb slots to be very 'short'. Ideal glove...for me...would be Medium Countdown fingers with Large Countdown thumbs. The wrist openings are also very 'tight'...the small wrist opening on the Medium gloves made it difficult to put on the 'second' glove. Great glove for warmth...would recommend that you size up.

+1. I second the issue with the small thumbs and small wrist. The warmth and waterproofing if good. The small wrist and long fingers (or short thumbs) lead to some severe dexterity issues. I cannot recommend these for road biking. The dexterity is a huge issue with breaking and shifting.

Do all the Gore gloves have the absorbent fabric on the thumb/forefinger

Do all the Gore gloves have the absorbent fabric on the thumb/forefinger for wiping sweat? I've read it as a feature on only a couple of the products. I need VERY warm hands, and I would like to have the absorbent material as well, but can't figure out which gloves will work best.

All of our gloves have an absorbent fabric on the thumb/forefinger area although the material may vary from glove to glove. Dave - GORE BIKE WEAR(tm)

Good fit, but downhill from there...

By: not2913520

I found the Countdown gloves to fit true to size (actually, I love the fit), but beyond that I would not recommend this glove. Even at just barely over freezing, my hands were still quite cold (actually hurting) by the end of my six mile ride. Generally speaking, quite a let down, especially considering the money (which, though not the most expensive glove, certainly isn't cheap either).

While they're not designed for the use your are describing, the gloves are completely waterproof. You might want to search out a GORE-TEX® glove that has a more durable shell like a mountaineering or motorcycling glove. Dave - GORE BIKE WEAR™

Quality

Was skeptical when ordering these gloves. My fingers always get cold once temps hit 35. I am an avid mtn biker. Temps today hovered around 25. My digits where warm! Sweating actually. Weird. Gloves are relatively thin but nice. Good quality all around. I'm impressed.

What is the sizing of the Countdown glove (in inches) of a L

What is the sizing of the Countdown glove (in inches) of a L vs XL. I am usually a large and I bought one in this size (per the sizing chart on Backcountry.com L = 7.5-8) but it feels somewhat snug, especially at the thumbs.

Gore Bike Wear Countdown Cycling Glove - Full-Finger - Men's

By: hai2613534
January 2, 2009

These gloves are good for the rainy rides but I don't find them very warm when cycling in cold weather, 35 degrees and below here in Holland. I ordered a size large in respect to the sizing chart and find the gloves a bit small.

My hands (and feet) get really cold when cycling, but I worry

My hands (and feet) get really cold when cycling, but I worry about not being able to control my bike (particularly on descents) if I'm wearing really thick gloves and can't feel the brakes or shifters. I presume that these gloves will keep my hands warm, but are they so thick that I won't be able to feel my hands on the bars, brakes, and shifters?

The great thing about GORE-TEX® is that it is completely windproof and waterproof yet breathable. Therefore, as some of your body's perspriation runs down your arm and into your gloves, the GORE-TEX® membrane keeps the wind from reaching the perspriation thereby keeping the water from being chilled on your body. Additionally, the perspriation is able to be transfered away from the hand because of the breathable properties of the membrane. The end result is that we do not have to add lots of additional insulation in order to achieve warmth.Hope this helpsDave - GORE BIKE WEAR™
