LOOK Cycles Keo Carbon Road Bike Pedal - 2009

Ready to arm your bike with a pedal that Pro Tour teams Crѐdit Agricole and Cofidis use? Grab the Look USA Keo Carbon Road Bike Pedal. Injected-carbon brings this pedal down to 115 grams while the steel axle avoids a bank-emptying titanium price. Three bearings minimize axle-to-sole distance, which means increased strength and direct power transfer so none of your pedaling effort gets wasted. Adjustable spring tension allows you to custom-tune entry and release tension. The Keo Carbon Pedal’s Keo cleat increases contact surface while reducing weight and pedal hotspots. *Comes with 4.5-degree-float cleats, six mounting 5 x 11mm screws, and six washers.

Bottom Line: Foot-pedal fusion.

A masterpiece, nuff said

By: Damon Salter

Started using the pedals this fall and it has been a love affair.

First of all they are just a pedal right. No, these carbon beauties are solid as hell, the bearings are great. They mount with a simple hex wrench and don't require any special pedal or cone wrench.

The configuration keeps your foot very close the pedal axle and near the crank arm for maximum feel, minimum flex, and an aero stance.

At 115 grams a pop, they are light as heck and don't shatter your pocket book with a Ti spindle.

The non-skid cleat keeps me from looking like a penguin when I stop for my mid-ride java.

The included cleat covers come in handy if you are going to be walking for any distance in your cleats. Make sure you pop the cleat covers in your jersey because the cleat will wear fast on concrete.

Look continues it proud heritage in pedal with these.

These pedals are good fun

By: T. von Thelen
September 27, 2009

I was a diehard toeclip rider. Then, I saw an online piece about some very cool looking yellow Keo Carbons. Since they weren't being manufactured yet, I thought I would at least gain an understanding of why the cycling world went away from toe clips and installed these. They went right on and work as designed. The only thing I can think of that would be an improvement is a double sided pedal.

why is the black/white model $90 more expensive than the black

why is the black/white model $90 more expensive than the black - any technical difference between the two?

The other answer is NOT correct - the black Keo Carbons are not Keo Classics, although both come in black on black. I'm guessing the black/black price is lower due to supply over the white option.

Guess white plastic is more expensive than black... Not so... The all black that Look is using this year is on the KEO Classic, it is 20 grams heavier and only has 2 needle bearings versus 3. The tension setting has a greater range of adjustability over the Classic's as well.

Forget Speedplay

By: Dick
August 25, 2009

After riding Speedplay Zeroes for a few years, I am now riding the Keo Carbons after dealing with chronic issues related to Speedplay's cleat design.

Overall, the Keos have been wonderful compared to the Speedplays; while the single-sided engagement isn't as brainless, the pedal platform is noticeably more stable, and is much more comfortable on long rides. The grey cleat offers as much free-float as I need, and unlike the Speedplay cleats, they don't require any constant tweaking or re-adjustments.

+ Way more stable, better comfort and power transfer
+ Less expensive cleats
+ Cleats require no constant re-adjustment (Speedplays have limit screws that fix the amount of float, until they worm out, at least)
+ Way easier to walk with these cleats, if necessary

- The cleats show wear relatively quickly with any sort of walking
- Single sided entry

FYI to the clipless-phobic out there: the level of difficulty of disengagement for both pedals are about on par.

Feel Connected

By: Kevin Curry
May 4, 2009

These pedals are solid. They are super smooth and they are nice and light without being in the insanely expensive category. The non-skid plates are nice because I don't fall on my butt everytime I stop at a gas station to empty the tanks. You cannot beet a look pedals huge platform and the configuration that puts your foot right in the pedal axle and close to the crank for maximum aerodynamics.

SWEET DEAL!

By: kevskoolkars

Awesome pedals for the price! These pedals are super smooth & really transfer the power well. I have noticed a big difference in the wattage output on the powertap. Highly recommend these pedals! & If you're considering the one with the titanium spindles don't get em, the titanium isn't worth the extra cash.

Great Pedals

By: martini_asciutto Realcyclist.com Employee
July 16, 2009

This is my second pair of these pedals. I got them to replace some old speed play pedals I had on my TT bike. They made it feel like a completely different ride. The speed play pedals had some lateral play, but the look have a much wider base. They have a much more solid connection.
