Pearl Izumi Cyclone Glove

Thanks to wind- and water-resistant fabric in the Pearl Izumi Men's Cyclone Bike Gloves, your hands won't have to suffer during wet, cold road rides. Gel-Lite padding absorbs vibration from the road, while a U-Bridge insert in the palm of the Cyclone Glove helps alleviate pressure on your hand nerves. This means you can pedal longer with less hand-stress. The synthetic leather palm adds grip and durability to the Cyclone Glove, while the molded, low-profile cuff covers your wrist.

Bottom Line: Pearl Izumi's Cyclone Bike Gloves absorb shock and help block wind and water on less-than-perfect-weather road rides.

Great padding but cold protection is modest.

By: P Whiteman

These gloves are well padded without compromising the tactility. You will forget that you have them on which is a true compliment to the way they fit and breathe. They are pretty much true to size so if you already know your glove size there is no guess work here. I have taken these gloves out on 30 mile rides in the low 30's to mid 20's. They do offer very good protection from the jarring bouncing of the road but after about 90 min you'll notice that the cold does penetrate. I like the control that the gloves give me so I concede to cold hands on the longer rides and just deal with it. Mid 30's and above are where these gloves are untouchable.

Really nice gloves, especially when it's wet and windy. Windproof and water-resistant. Just as advertised! Designed for aerobic activities. No problems using them while commuting and trail running in temperatures 26-30F. Fit, feel and padding as mentioned. Have been extensively using them for 4 months.

A Winner

By: Peter Denny
March 20, 2009

These gloves offer a good fit and great padding. They are windproof and water-resistant. I use these alone down to mid-high 30's and they are great. They are breathable enough to prevent overheating up to around 50 or so. If it's really wet and cold I add a set of thin Goretex N2S outer gloves and I'm ready for a downpour and temps below freezing.

Perfect Down to mid 30's

These are the perfect weight glove for riding from 35 to 50 degrees. They have lasted two seasons of 3-5 uses per week. PI makes great stuff, that is reliable and sizing makes sense.

Excellent buy

These are NOT winter cycling gloves, so it's not reasonable to expect them to keep your digits toasty in sub-freezing temps. They are absolutely perfect for chilly mornings down to about freezing. Below that, I pair them with BarMitts and everything stays real warm. As a result, I've retired my heavy, bulky PI Amfib gloves. The gel padding is nice...it soaks up vibration & is good for the long-haul. They seem very well-built...typical PI quality. The velcro wrist closures are a real step-up from the PI Gavia's zipper

good for cold commutes

By: William M. Wallace

gloves do a good job of keeping you warm and dry they fit well and cover you whole wrist. only draw back for me is too much padding on the palm. not much of an issue and admittedly a matter of personal preference but for me these are better for commutes than serious riding

Not bulky

By: Mike Throgmartin
December 5, 2009

I am very impressed with these gloves. They are wind- and water-resistant on the backs of the gloves. Gel- padding absorbs vibration and is just about the right thickness for biking gloves. These kept my hands comfortable down to the mid 40's temp and do block the wind well for such a light glove. The palms also have a grip material to help when the handlebars get cold.

They fit true to size and have velcro on the wrist for sizing.

Palm goiter

By: Stephen Tam
March 19, 2009

These gloves will keep your hands warm in dry conditions but when the weather turns wet they palms soak up moisture (Only the backs of the gloves are water resistant). I am not overly excited about the gel lite padding in the palm. It felt like I had a palm goiter.

Not too warm

By: Mark Chandler
January 16, 2009

Decent fit/feel, but really not all that warm. Maybe good for 45-50f, but colder than that, look elsewhere.

P I Cyclone Gloves

By: Matt W
October 24, 2009

Great gloves ! Very light and comfortable, plus they are suprisingly warm for such a lightweight glove. Good for temps well down into the 40's. They run true to size and are a great value at the price compared to other gloves. Only complaint is that the gel padding on the palm is split in the middle right where your hands rest on the bars while riding in an upright position. Pad needs to extend all the way across the palm.

Not water resistant

By: hardboiled2136265

Don't even think for a minute that you can wear these in the rain, the palms soak up water and your hands will be freezing cold in minutes.
A perfectly fine and well fitted glove for sunny fall and spring days, but no good at all when it's wet (or below 32 degrees)

Great for winter in the nw

By: PowderDuck
February 25, 2009

These gloves are pretty comfortable - the padding on the palm does its job. They have terry cloth on the thumbs to wipe boogers, and also keep me warm enough for winter rides in Seattle (freezing temps and rain..lots of rain).

Review Title

By: Steve
December 5, 2009

The gloves look awesome but unfortunately that's where the positives end. My hand circumference is 9'', I accordingly ordered size large, and they are way too tight on the fingers. I have thin fingers too (guys that have pretty thick fingers...these will not fit you comfortably) and these gloves are too tight in that area to retain any warmth. They actually seem to prohibit proper circulation which is the main reason they are not suited for temps below ~43F. They're supposed to be wind-resistant, and they are, barely. By the time I got home from a short 7 mile ride in 39F temps my hands were frozen to the point of total un-comfort. The synthetic leather palm soaks up and retains any water that it comes in contact with. The padding on the palm seems misplaced for riding. I have to very consciously place my hands on the grips to utilize it effectively, and even then it seems like more of a nuisance than benefit. These gloves are for temps above 40F and not at all for wet conditions. I hate to bust on anything by pearl because I own a lot of clothing from them that I'm very happy with. I'll continue wearing them assuming that the fit will improve as they break in more (cause damn, they really do look good), but I wouldn't recommend these gloves at all.

I also wanted to add that I ride an upright position hybrid, so my bike does have straight bars. That may account for my sense of the padding being dysfunctional.

great

I do not get cold hands very easily so I was looking for something to keep the cold wind off my knuckles but didn't want bulk. These have great wind proof material rignt where is counts, the fit is correct and the dexterity is fantastic.

They actually made my hands colder

By: Dzave
January 27, 2009

I wore the gloves on days where the temp is above freezing and the fingers seemed to attract the cold. The glove was a great fit, great padding where needed and wonderful construction, but the purpose of this glove was to keep my fingers warm. It failed in a big way!
