Pearl Izumi Cyclone Shoe Cover

Thanks to wind-and water-resistant fabric, the Pearl Izumi Cyclone Shoe Covers block the elements, while a microfleece lining adds warmth on chilly rides. Pull the Cyclone Shoe Covers on by using the finger loop, and close these covers with the ¾-length locking zipper and hook-and-loop strap. Pearl Izumi made the Cyclone Covers with a durable rubber sole and cleat cutaways for external-cleat road shoes.

Bottom Line: Pearl Izumi's Cyclone Shoe Covers are like fleece-lined, weather-resistant gloves for your shoes and ankles.

They are water and wind resistant but not water proof. If you are in severe drenching rain for hours you might get a little wet.

These are a little tight but they really keep your feet warm and toasty. maybe buy a size larger but they are great other than that.

Albeit the rubber soles on these have cleat cutaways for cleat integration on pedals. Wearing these over shoes w/o cleats could jeopardize your normal grip (depending on your tread. in short: Not recommended.

don't last

These are tight even in large. The zipper gets stuck coming over the heel cup on bike shoes and has broken after one season. Now looking for a different model replacement.

I've got an XXL pair of Pearl Izumi Cyclone shoe covers but

I've got an XXL pair of Pearl Izumi Cyclone shoe covers but unfortunately they are a wee bit too small for my (14-15)/53 bike shoes. I can get 'em on, but it's a time-consuming struggle and I'm afraid they might rip in the middle of an Alaskan bike tour next summer. Have tried many bike shoe vendors/many bike stores to get either SPD-compatible covers (ie, cleat cut-outs), or waterproof SPD MTB shoes - can't get no satisfaction. Any suggestions? Anybody know how to reach Bill Walton? Please, no suggestions about foot surgery.

Hate to make you spend more money, but your best solution might be one of the Lake Cycling winter shoes. They're pretty burly. They usually only stock up to a 50, but as a stateside company (Illinois) with a strong slant towards fit, they might be able to help you out. Maybe drop them a note? lakecycling.com

Adequate

By: sco2495856

The fit is fine. Snug, but i believe that's the way they are designed. If your toward the higher side of the size, then size up. I have no problem getting them on. I don't pull all the way off if using them multiple days in a row. They did not keep my toes warm below 40f even with some heavier wool socks. This is my 1st full shoe cover. I'm sure there are better options.

They run a little small anyway so you need a XL.

A OK

By: carbonfiber
December 10, 2008

For rain this is great but cold weather might not be enough. I bike to work in Northern Virginia and these didn't keep me warm. You might want to pair some defeet wool socks with these. Zipper is hard to zip up and fits too tight. I suggest getting a larger size then what's recommended.
