Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Cycling Knicker - Women's

You want a little more coverage than cycling shorts give, but not a full-length sauna. Turn to the Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Cycling Knicker—the 19in inseam adds a bit more warmth for fall rides. Cut for the cyclist, the Elite will happily tag along for comfy mile after mile and stay in place thanks to a wide un-bunching waist band and spandex leg gripers. Not terrible, not great

Pros:
- thermal lining is sufficiently warm for cold and wet NorCal winter mornings
- chamois is comfortable for mid-distance (45-60mi) rides, although a bit on the thick side
- nice length and good grip on the calf without being too tight

Cons:
- thermal lining pills after 3rd or 4th washing, even with hang-dry
- waist band has no elastic, only a string to keep it up. Lost the string in the first wash and find myself constantly hiking the shorts back up to keep the chamois in the right place
