Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor Mesh Base Layer - Sleeveless - Men's - 2008

By no means is this my favorite base layer. I suppose for its description it does the job a a light weight shirt, but I do not enjoy wearing this under my jersey/bib straps. It tends to bunch and I don't think the wicking properties are much to write home about. Wrap up: Great if you want it as a shirt, a waste if you want it as a Base Layer

After a few washes, this is scratchy and doesn't wick as well as other base layers I've worn (craft, defeet). Regardless of which base layer you choose, please note: BASE layers go UNDER the straps of your bibs.

This shirt is a great baselayer. It wicks exceptionally well. I have not road tested it yet (winter calls for longsleeves), but I wear this shirt over my bibs for indoor spinning sessions. Hides your bib straps and keeps you cool! Since it's sleeveless, go with your chest size and not shoulder size. I wear a large in most jerseys, but the medium baselayer is a good, not baggy fit.

I like Pearl Izumi because it is made in America! Second, that is all they make, apparel.

It is well cut and sewn. The material is nice and light. It is simple, not busy like most cycling apparel.

It is a little short, maybe two inches or so, but I am 6'3" so I feel it is true to size. I usually wear large tall when available. It looks fine over a bib.

This is a pretty nice under-jersey. I really like wearing it in the winter as my first base layer.
Here is the good: It wicks away moisture well. It doesn't feel like you are wearing an entire different shirt. It is light weight and comfortable. It does help prevent a rough jersey from scratching your skin. Also if you wear bib shorts like I do, it will give your shoulders a nice barrier.
Now the bad: It is a bit boxy and short in its cut. I am 6'2" and 160 lbs (a string bean essentially) and a medium is just barely long enough to tuck into my bib shorts, but a large was way too lose on me. My only other complaint is that the shoulder straps are not wide enough. My bib straps barely fit on the fabric of the undershirt.
Overall: decent shirt for the money. I own three, two in white one in black. Until I find something better, I will continue to use it.

I have used this as a sub-base layer for both riding and running 50 temps base layer only. Great on for the hard six hour rides or the four hour long runs. I wash it with all my other tech clothing using tech detergent and it is still preforming as it was new. I had to order a second one for the days that I have more that one workout.

The shirt works well as a baselayer for cycling. It wicks well, is lightweight, and is very comfortable. I've worn it quite a few times, including a century, and forgot I had it on. The only complaint that I have is I wish it were a bit longer so that I could wear it for running. It's definitely a cycling length cut. All-in-all, for the price, it's worth the money.
