Shimano Dura Ace RD-7900 Rear Derailleur

Some rear derailleurs snort, snicker, and flat-out refuse to comply when you think about choosing a 50/34 crankset and a 12/27 cassette. Not the Shimano America Dura-Ace RD-7900 Rear Derailleur. The RD-7900 has an expanded chain-wrap capacity so you can use it with any combination of Dura-Ace cranks and cassettes (including a combo of 50/34 and 11/28). What else is rad about this piece? Shimano America made the pulley cage and P-body with carbon fiber so this derailleur weighs in at a modest 166g. And of course, the 7900 shifts with the smooth, consistent accuracy you expect from Shimano’s highest-level road-component family.

No it can not. You will need what they call a long cage derailer, typically found in mountain bikes. This is a short cage derailer, you could run a 50/34 & 11-27, thats as good as is gets.

Yes, as long as you have a 10 speed indexed down tube shifter, or you can run ANY rear down tube shifter you have in the friction setting. 9 speed shifters may work too.
