Sidi Genius 6.6 Carbon Bike Shoe - Men's

Sidi's top-of-the-line Genius 6.6 Carbon road racing shoe makes no compromises on its path to victory. The full-length, carbon-fiber soleplate varies in thickness to allow just enough give, meaning that while these shoes are ridiculously light and stiff, they won't kill your feet in a brutal mountain stage or cobblestone European alleyway. The adjustable heel retention system locks down on your Achilles for lightning sprints, while the Caliper buckle allows easy, on-the-fly instep adjustments.

Bottom Line: Make a pilgrimage to the Mecca of performance with the Genius 6.6 Carbon Shoe.

Great (as per usual)

By: Rob

Good shoes which fit like they were made for you after a few rides. I do have 1 major criticism however. . . . .I put these new shoes beside my Sidi Eagles from 1997 and they look identical - SIDI GET A NEW DESIGN!!!! Overall great shoes.

Style and Function

By: Jamie Preston
May 30, 2009

I now understand my wife's shoe obsession. Sidi has created a beautiful, stylish and functional shoe. Out of the box, these are pleasing to the eye and the fit is just as nice. The heel adjustment is a great new feature and I am not sure if there is a stiffer shoe out there (or if you would want one). The insole is the weak link - wafer thin with no support - throw in your own and you have an even better shoe. The adjustment buckle on the Ergo 2 is a great feature, but this shoe presents no potential technical glitches with no real compromises on comfort or performance. The price is high, but if you ride a lot and appreciate quality and style, choose a high end Sidi. I have these and the Ergo 2 and actually prefer this shoe (I admit this is a close call).

I'm torn between these and the Sidi Genius 5.5 model. I'm a fairly serious recreational rider in need of some comfortable well made shoes. Are the 6.6 shoes worth the extra dough.

Not sure about being worth the extra dough for you or not but the 6.6 has an adjustable heel cup that cyclist with smaller heels or larger tendons love.

Sidi Genius 6.6 Carbon Bike Shoe

By: Do it all
March 27, 2008

This Bike shoe is the real deal. It is the same as the ergo 2 without the fancy middle buckle. I was afraid of that middle buckle breaking so I went with the Genius 6.6. I wear a size 9 US shoe/ 42 and 2/3 Euro Salomon trail running shoe and the Sidi's (size 43) have a comparable fit, leaving just enough room for my toes without scrunching them while still giving me a performance fit.

Won't be disappointed

By: jurgen2178540

Spend the money. They will last 2-3 times as long as the ones made in China and your feet will be more comfortable the whole time. You are paying less more more. The only thing to keep in mind is the insole really is just a throw away, you will probably have to buy a nice insert especially if you need any arch support. Overall it is the best shoe. Light, comfortable and durable. Also, many replaceable parts...

I am also a size 9 and 43 would be your size. The Sidi's run pretty true to their sizing chart. One of the great things about BackCountry is that their return policy is amazing. If you try them on and they are not exactly what you want, you can easily return them and get the right size.

Rock on.

These are very well designed, because they really hug your feet like bike shoes should. Most shoes give the one-arm bro hug (tight over the arch with no support in the heel) or the little old lady hug (weak all around). The plastic heel piece keeps your foot from lifting out, and the modified velcro straps are bomber. The ratchet strap is even more awesome: reliable single click micro adjustments and a simple system for adjusting the padding position. My only gripes: the white ones are only attractive to fish, the heel rubber is weakly attached, and the price is about $100 more than I think they're worth. That's probably due to the bad exchange rate though, and there's little you can do about it.

First impression

By: Adam.Liegn100050284

Fit and finish are great. Really comfortable and the Sidi sizing chart is spot on. I generally wear a 10.5 US Men's shoe and the Sidi 45 European size is ideal. For reference, I've been using Nike Poggio 4 UL in a size 44, which also fit me perfectly. Before these I had purchased/tried on and returned a pair of Northwave Aerlite 3s which, although their sizing chart says that I should be a 43, they were too small by (probably) a full European size. Also the toe-box on the Aerlite 3s is a little funky even considering the ones I had in person were too small - maybe they would work for you, but for me the in-step side of toe-box rubbed my big toe. Nonetheless, the Aerlite 3s are also an excellent shoe fit and finish wise and are definitely worth a look. If they work for your feet I would probably go with the Aerlite's due to the fact that they can be had for half the cost of these Sidi's. Whatever the case, an investment in the best shoes you can (or even can't) affort is a worthy one. TREAT YOUR FEET RIGHT!

These shoes are amazing, light solid fit, locks your heels in. This is the way a good road shoe should feel. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

The 5.5 is a carbon composite (cheaper to produce) and the 6.6 is full carbon fiber (a loaded term). They're both equally fantastic shoes, but this is a bitchin' deal on these shoes right now.

The total cycling shoes are a different color?

By: ClubRider Realcyclist.com Employee
January 29, 2009

Jim, I agree the total cycling EURO price is tempting, but the MARP pricing is in compliance with the MSRP from Veltec, the USA distributor of Sidi. PS - when you place international orders from Europe to the USA, you still have to pay import taxes. So add up the freight, taxes, and 6 weeks later you may have saved a couple of bucks. If discounts are your jam, try www.bonktown.com

These shoes by far are streets ahead of any other cycling shoe. Very well made, as are all things Italian. Great styling, comfort and very adjustable. Main arch strap and ratchet is replaceable and so are many of the other parts, which is great because being main wear and tear items. Overall shoe is in high end price range, but value for money in every aspect. Many of the Pro's wear them for thousands of kilometers, and so will your average joe in style and comfort. Highly recommended, no negatives at all. Purchase and race your heart out.
