  • Bio:

Down south in the land of Dara Torres where age is just a number, I decided to really start my biking journey at the age of 50. There were many bystanders who actually tried to discourage me, saying I could never go 50 or 100 miles - that this was a sport for a 'younger' crowd. I'm here to tell you that's simply not true. It's not where you start it's how you finish. I joined a cycling club, got encouragement from many of the younger riders in the group and now can keep up on those 62+ mile rides. Riding gives me something that is hard to explain - I feel great, love my life and savor every minute of being on my bike. I found that I am smiling with the wind in my face. Success isn't necesarily in size, age or strength, but rather in the sheer will to succeed and prove that I can do it.

Great tights when the temps !

Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Cycling Tight - Women's

Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Cycling Tight - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 19, 2010

I ride in So Florida and sometimes those morning rides can be pretty chilly. We ride when temps are in the 40-50* range. Leg warmers withshorts just don't work so I opted for these tights. They work amazing well, keep your legs warm and dry without overheating once the sun really starts to shine. I ordered SMALL and at 5'2" 107 the fit is great - the legs are too long. I simply roll the cuffs up and make them work cause basically these are the best I've tried yet. The shammy is comfortable & compression is great and I use these on rides 50-60 miles when the temps drop below 60*. Have used them when its 40 and windy and keep just as warm. I wish the Pearl Izumi would come up with a fit for us shorter riders how about offering lengths in short, average & long. Afterall there are some tall cyclists in our group - they are slim and also wear a small with long legs. We love these pants but need to get the length right. For now - I'll deal with rolling them up a notch, I just wanna ride my bike even if its cold out!

Best Buy I've made yet! Well worth the investment!

Pearl Izumi Amfib Tight - Women's

Pearl Izumi Amfib Tight - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2010

I read what others had said about these tights and couldn't believe how great they REALLY are. Front panels keep wind & wet weather out, while back allows for air so you don't overheat. I use these pants for cycling and believe it or not even without a shammy they are great! Have used them on rides 40-50 miles no problem especially work well when its 40*-50* out and feels colder in the wind. If you need to wear a pair of shorts underneath -there is room but I opted to use them alone. They are also great for running. I ordered size SM - at 5'2" and107 they are a great fit, bit long in legs but not a problem once i get cycling they work into place and my ankles stay covered. Honestly can say this is one of the BEST buys I've made. Have all the women in my cycling group ordering them too. Great look, great fit and they keep you warm to bike or run anytime the temp goes below 60*

Great Quality runs small ORDER UP one size

Descente Strata Bike Short - Women's

Descente Strata Bike Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 19, 2009

I am 5'2 and weigh about 103 usually order a SMALL in just about everything EXCEPT for DESCENTE. I have found that their products run smaller so I now order a MEDIUM. Had the jersey and on long bike ride the small armpit was bothersome and too tight - I exchanged for a MEDIUM and love it. When I purchased these matching bike shorts went straight for the MEDIUM and they are perfect. I also wear Pearl Izumi and Sergio both in small and comparatively found the Descente sits lower on the hip and has a great chamois for the longer rides 50-62+. I wear this pair at least twice a week on my longer rides, love the fit and comfort. Bottom line, unless you are one svelt biker, order up one size. Overall great product, nice quality - one of my favorite brands.

Castelli Brezza Due Full-Zip Jacket - Women's

Castelli Brezza Due Full-Zip Jacket - Women's

April 28, 2009

Great fit, looks sharp. I use this jacket for cycling AND for golf. It packs away easily - great for cool morning rides and easy to store once the day heats up. Fit is pretty true to size. A great overally windbreaker for the price.
