Answer to: "I'm looking at this bike and the Pinarello FP3 Ultegra, anyone"

LOOK Cycles 566 Ultegra Road Bike - 2009

LOOK Cycles 566 Ultegra Road Bike - 2009

May 8, 2009

I could be biased but... I'd go with the Pinarello. The FP3 is built upon the same geometry as the prince which has been proven time and time again in the worlds top tours, plus it looks like it belongs in an art gallery. I would go with the classic.

Planet Bike Eco Rear Rack

Planet Bike Eco Rear Rack

May 7, 2009

No, the rack requires that your bike have rack mounts on the frame. There should be screws already in place almost every bike out there has the required rack mounts.

Perfect for the Heat

Craft CooL Mesh Superlight Shirt - Sleeveless - Men's

Craft CooL Mesh Superlight Shirt - Sleeveless - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2009

I've worn this for several Colorado blistering hot rides and it keeps me cool and dry. The anti-odor is a lifesaver. Craft makes the best base layers bar none.

The Best

Continental Grand Prix 4000 Tubular Tire

Continental Grand Prix 4000 Tubular Tire

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2009

These are not training tires. They cost a ton and wear out quick but that's because they corner tight and stick to the road like an F1 tire. Perfect for racing wheels.

Great Race Tire

Vittoria Diamante Pro Tire

Vittoria Diamante Pro Tire

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2009

These make for a very nice, inexpensive race tire. They corner very well and never feel like they're going to roll. They do wear fast, as do all race tires.

Flat Black

Giro Hex Bike Helmet

Giro Hex Bike Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 May 5, 2009

The flat black paint looks sick. The helmet is light, very light for a mountain helmet, and gets plenty of air flow.

LOOK Cycles Keo Carbon Road Bike Pedal

LOOK Cycles Keo Carbon Road Bike Pedal

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

These pedals are solid. They are super smooth and they are nice and light without being in the insanely expensive category. The non-skid plates are nice because I don't fall on my butt everytime I stop at a gas station to empty the tanks. You cannot beet a look pedals huge platform and the configuration that puts your foot right in the pedal axle and close to the crank for maximum aerodynamics.

Fast

Easton EC90 Aero Carbon Wheelset - Tubular

Easton EC90 Aero Carbon Wheelset - Tubular

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

I used a set in a local time trial and I must say these are some fast hoops. I still feel that a rear disc is faster in a TT but these wheels seem well suited for everything from a crit to a local mountain race.

Giro Advantage 2 Cycling Helmet

Giro Advantage 2 Cycling Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

When training has taken you as far as you can go this will help shed off those last few seconds you need to get on the podium. It vents surprisingly well on top of it all. If you're already fast and looking for a little advantage go for it.

Pearl Izumi Tour Bike Sock

Pearl Izumi Tour Bike Sock

Rating for this product: 3 May 4, 2009

These socks stretched a bit weird and haven't fit right since. That being said they look fly and always win a compliment or two at the races so I wear them regardless.
