Nice summer gloves - good venting

Pearl Izumi Elite Gel Vent Glove

Pearl Izumi Elite Gel Vent Glove

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2009

These are my second pair of PI Elite Gel Vent gloves. That's all you really need to know!

The venting around the palm is nice. The fit is snug, which is a good thing for a bike glove. I've washed my first set of gloves, and they still fit and look like they survived the washing machine and dryer ok.

Pulling them off is a bit of a struggle, not any worse than other gloves I've owned. Hopefully one day more glove makers will incorporate tried and true ways to help pull off snug gloves - look at Castelli Rosso Corsa for example, or Schieck weight lifting gloves.

So to sum up, all in all, a nice summer glove!

Pretty nice summer gloves if discounted

Castelli Rosso Corsa Bike Gloves - Men's

Castelli Rosso Corsa Bike Gloves - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 31, 2009

I've had a few Castelli gloves over the years and decided to try these when they went on sale. But they have a few good things going for them. The palm is nice and tacky for bar contact. The finger pulls are definitely a nice touch - having struggled with most other snug-fitting gloves to pull them off, this is a very nice design feature.

One other surprise, not good - they stretch, a lot. I normally wear 2XL in Castelli gloves. But these gloves stretched so much my hands were sliding around inside the glove. I exchanged these for the XL and while snug first time, they have given just enough to be the right size.

At the regular retail price, these gloves are definitely over-priced. But on sale, they are a reasonable purchase once you get the right size. I probably won't be using these all the time in place of my regular PI gloves, but they're a nice addition.

good commuting bibshort

Castelli Velocissimo Cycling Bibshort - Men's

Castelli Velocissimo Cycling Bibshort - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 July 29, 2009

I've worn Castelli bibshorts for years and picked up the Velocissimo at an attractive discount. The construction is ok - time will tell on durability. The fit is true to other Castelli bibs I've owned. Leg grippers work well and the shoulder straps are reasonably comfortable. Chamois is adequate for a 30-60 minute commute or ride, but I wouldn't pick these for longer times in the saddle: I don't think the chamois has strong design and structure, when compared to comparable products from Sugoi, PI and Giordana.

Good summer road bike gloves

Pearl Izumi Elite Gel Vent Glove

Pearl Izumi Elite Gel Vent Glove

Rating for this product: 4 May 26, 2009

PI gloves are generally reliable and well made. These are no exception!
They are nicely vented, even through the palm area - which worked well in 80+ deg weather. The padding was minimalist, a bit less than other PI gel gloves I've had, but sufficient. Like most bike gloves, they slide on more easily than they come off!
