Just bought the first bike I will have owned in 10 years from RealCyclist. Making the commitment to commute to work on it everyday, even in inclement weather. I just don't like driving anymore.

Great fit and feel

Pearl Izumi Select Gel Glove

Pearl Izumi Select Gel Glove

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2009

I purchased a pair of these for daily commuting in northeast Florida and they are exactly what I needed. Light-weight, breathable, and very comfortable. Some other riders have mentioned sweaty palms but I have not experienced that in the limited time I've owned them. Overall I think they do a great job and cushion the vibration well on non-suspension forks.

They breathe quite well. My hands are rarely sweaty unless it's just really humid outside.

SKS Raceblade XL Fenders

SKS Raceblade XL Fenders

Rating for this product: 3 December 15, 2009

At first I didn't think these would mount correctly onto my Rocky Mtn Metropolis, but after careful inspection and some slight coaxing I was able to successfully attach these puppies. As it turns out the fenders will slide, with some effort, within the mounting bracket to achieve the correct clearance. This also means that the fenders can become maladjusted in the course of daily use but are easily re-situated.

The disc brakes on my bike narrows the selection of fenders from which to choose and these do a respectable job considering that. I still long for sturdy, stylish, securely mounted fenders though.

Cutter Big Mouth Water Bottle - 24oz

Rating for this product: 3 December 15, 2009

It's a water bottle alright. And it just so happens to fit in the Cutter aluminum water bottle cage. These guys are genius!! I prolly forgot to pick clear the 10th time I came back to this page and ended up with green instead, but I don't really care; green is my favorite color.

Answer to: "Is there a helmet mount for this light?"

NiteRider UltraFazer Combo Light

There is not one included, but the headlight clips into the bar clamp. If they have similar helmet mount clamps this would be useful for me as well since I would be able to clip it to whichever.

Picked up this little combo for my Rocky Mtn Metropolis and was very glad to see it fit like a glove. These things are really bright! And they blink too, what else could you want?

Cutter Commuter U-Lock

Cutter Commuter U-Lock

Rating for this product: 4 December 15, 2009

It's thick, it's heavy and it locks. Nice sliding cover to conceal the keyhole and keep dirt out and a rubberized sheath on the U. Does what it should.

Great commuter

Rocky Mountain Metropolis Hybrid Bike

Rocky Mountain Metropolis Hybrid Bike

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2009

I just received my Metropolis from RealCyclist and I am exceptionally satisfied with the service they have provided. My questions about this bike were promptly answered and I was able to make a well-informed decision on my purchase; initially I was somewhat skeptical of buying a bicycle online. This experience has really allayed my fears and I will not hesitate to purchase from these great bunch of people again.

I have only a weekend on the bike so far, but it has been great. Smooth ride for an aluminum frame, I believe the greater surface area on the over-sized tubing helps a bit in that respect. I've outfitted it with the recommended SKS fenders and head/tail lights, amongst other things.

The Alfine 8 speed gearbox is smooth and responsive. Like many others, I like the fact that I can shift gears while stationary. The tires ride nicely and were well trued. In fact the entire bike was pre-built by the guys at RealCyclist and it arrive safe and sound in a well packed box. I all I needed was to clamp on the front wheel, adjust the seat and I was rolling.

This bike is quite well balanced and turns on a dime which is helpful considering all the trees, shrubs and other obstacles on my path to work. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and have joined the ranks of the daily commuter. Thanks guys.
