I've got an XXL pair of Pearl Izumi Cyclone shoe covers but unfortunately they are a wee bit too small for my (14-15)/53 bike shoes. I can get 'em on, but it's a time-consuming struggle and I'm afraid they might rip in the middle of an Alaskan bike tour next summer. Have tried many bike shoe vendors/many bike stores to get either SPD-compatible covers (ie, cleat cut-outs), or waterproof SPD MTB shoes - can't get no satisfaction. Any suggestions? Anybody know how to reach Bill Walton? Please, no suggestions about foot surgery.

Hate to make you spend more money, but your best solution might be one of the Lake Cycling winter shoes. They're pretty burly. They usually only stock up to a 50, but as a stateside company (Illinois) with a strong slant towards fit, they might be able to help you out. Maybe drop them a note? lakecycling.com
