Serfas Cable Combo Lock - 2008

You don't have to worry about losing your bike lock key with the Serfas Combo Lock. This self-coiling cable stays out of the way on your bike or in your pack, and the five-digit combination lock eliminates the need for a small, ever-so-quickly losable key. Use the included bike attachment to secure the Combo Lock on your bike frame while you ride. The 12-millimeter-thick cable is a bit easier to handle, while the 15-millimeter cable helps deter clip-happy thieves.

Bottom Line: This self-coiling combo lock cable won't tangle around everything in your pack or flop around on your frame while you ride.

I've spent a king's ransom on a carbon road bike, prized for its light weight, among other factors (under 15 lbs, fully loaded). I'd like to make sure the bike is secure when I make my regular muffin/coffee/other stop, but it seems almost blasphemous to intentionally add weight to my bike. Looking around the peleton (amateur roadies), I don't see anyone with a lock. What should I do? If I get a lock, what lock is the lightest one that provides adequate (if not failsafe) protection?

put the lock in your back pack... by the way, the riders probably left theirs in the car... when we are riding we do not do errands...
